Can a Tile Roof Be Repaired?
Sometimes a few tiles will break, say from a tree branch falling, or your helpful neighbor retrieving his kid's frisbee. If you have spare tiles left over from the installation, then it's certainly possible to repair your tile roof.
If your tile roof is pretty new, then it's possible the tiles are still being made. So bigger repairs to the tile roof are still feasible. We can then order enough tiles to do a repair as long as those tiles are still being made, or in some cases a new version that still interlocks with the older version and is in the exact same color.
It's very important that the interlocking style on the roof tiles you have match the replacement tiles. Unfortunately, when companies discontinue a line of tile with the same kind as yours (or even the same color, although your insurance company rarely cares), you may have to get a full roof replacement instead. Tile manufacture companies rarely run a line of tiles for more than ten years or so.
This often comes up after a hail storm, or a tree branch, and the insurance adjuster says that the 20 broken tiles can be easily replaced, "here's $750 and have a nice day." On the coast, or in the southwest, where tile roofs are more common, adjusters sometimes know better.
